How you can commission a custom-made work

If you cannot visit us personally on our little island, we would enjoy receiving your request for a catalogue, from which you can then choose a tivaivai, wall hanging, art quilt or art object, or for a specially designed piece.

The Atiu Fibre Arts Studio's tivaivai are mainly "tivaivai manu". They are designed for a queen-size bed (tivaivai size 92" X 110" or 2.40 m X 2.75/2.80 m), but some can be adapted to a double or king size bed to suit your requirements.

We use pre-washed 100% cotton materials in order to offer you a good product. We carry a wide range of colours in stock to choose from and can probably match your curtain fabric, wallpaper sample or other colour sample you care to send us. On request we also hand dye fabrics with fibre/light reactive, non-toxic dyes that are exceptionally light and wash fast. Our tivaivai and wall hangings are generally machine sewn for better durability and easy care unless requested otherwise.

The Atiu Fibre Arts Studio also accepts private and corporate commissions. For an additional design fee of 15% of the estimated final price, we will enjoy designing a special tivaivai or quilt for you.

Your choice of motif and a good description or photographs of the place it will be displayed in will help us accommodate your requirements to create a unique textile artwork for your home or company. Many artworks shown in our catalogue are unique works, so any new art piece commissioned will be similar, but not an exact copy of existing works.

Our minimum delivery time is 6 months from the date of receiving your order not considering the time of shipment. Payment must be made in advance, including shipping and insurance costs. We accept Visa and MasterCard credit cards and can charge to your respective account. Our prices do not include shipping costs and insurance.

How to access our catalogue

We'll be pleased to send you a password to access our comprehensive catalogue for 48 hours and give you ample time to choose from it. Charges for the password are NZ$ 100.00, but if you place an order superior to NZ$ 500.00 with us, we will reimburse NZ$ 90.00.

Access the catalogue order form and enter your personal details. Once your request has been processed, you will receive your password and can proceed to commission from us a special artwork custom-made just for you.
