Andrea Eimke - a journey back in time
In my present life...
... my art is based on a synthesis of Polynesian and European materials and techniques, inspired by my life on Atiu. I was recently chosen to contest in the Lace Award Competition exhibition held at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney in June 2011.
In my third life...
... at the age of 58, I became a student again. I enroled in post-graduate studies offered in the Cook Islands and online by Auckland University of Technology (AUT, New Zealand). In my thesis "[Liminal Space]" I investigated material and non-material boundaries and their space in between. My final exhibition, the site-specific installation "[Third Space]", was held at the Mission House of the Takamoa Theological College on Rarotonga (Cook Islands) in February 2010. In June 2010 I was awarded the Master of Art and Design.
